In different contexts – both in Denmark and beyond – the focus has shifted from praising the individual architect, as the singular artistic capacity to an acknowledgment of the collective making. A change that can be seen both in the light of the struggle for diversity and equality and the many different skills that are essential to create qualified architecture that reflects society.
Platform for diversity and equality invites to an open discussion of the notion of Genius versus the strength of the collective, and what this means for the architectural quality.
Come join us and hear the story behind Genius and it’s significance for the perception of who the architect is today. Learn why the collective plays the decisive role in practicing architecture today – and what this means for the artistic expression at different architectural offices, such as Vandkunsten. We will also reveal the proposals submitted for our imaginary logo competition, which set out to challenge the logo of the Danish Association of Architects.
At the event, we openly question whether the architectural profession has room for both genius and the collective, and whether it is possible to combine them.
Everyone is welcome, and we hope for an open discussion with as many diverse perspectives as possible.
The event will be in english, but it will be possible to ask questions etc. in Danish – and the moderator can translate them.
There will be cold beer (also non-alcoholic) and snacks and plenty of time for networking.
