Diversity Bubbles - The Architect as?

The roles of the architect are diverse, but we often tend to understand the architect as a “form-making hero”. The Diversity & Equality Platform invites you to a joint discussion around the many roles and potentials of being an architect. Meet the architect as a futurist, urban developer, and as a humanitarian – and share your own experiences.

Tidspunkt:

19. Jan 17.00-18.30

The architect working in a commercial design practices is still prevalent, despite a great diversity in how many architects practice today.

Therefore we have invited a mixed group of speakers with experiences from urban development, futures research and a humanitarian organisation. They will each share their perspectives and expand our understanding of being an architect today at the first Diversity & Equality Platform event this year – where we will meet over a glass of champagne.

Ali Arvanaghi

Ali is an architect and project manager in Copenhagen Municipality. He is specialising in the design of public spaces and strategic city development in the context of urban renewal projects. He is responsible for the programming and concepts of public space projects and urban development plans in close dialogues with local residents as well as other stakeholders in interdisciplinary processes and complex networks. Ali is also a member of the representative group and the local board in Copenhagen of The Danish Association of Architects.

Ali has extensive experience working as a project manager and consulting architect from design studios such as BIG, C.F. Møller and Henning Larsen Architects in Copenhagen, as well as OMA in the Netherlands.

Lovisa Volmarsson

Lovisa is an architect, writer, and researcher with a focus on the future of architecture, cities, and the impacts of urbanisation. Her work at Copenhagen Institute for Futures Studies lies on the intersection of urban development, storytelling, and research where she as an Advisor & Futurist explores the future of cities through explorative, speculative, and critical practices. She has a special interest in the relationship between humanity and nature and how that is manifested in the built environment.

Anton Ryslinge

Anton is an architect and head of Architects Without Borders in Denmark. He has extensive experience working in both private, public as well as NGO related parts of the architectural field. He has been part of developing projects in various contexts outside of privileged countries and used his experience as a project manager. The projects have for example been with a focus on vulnerable social housing areas.

The event is free and everyone is welcome. Our ambition is an open discussion with as many diverse perspectives as possible. Please register via the registration bottom above.

The event will be in English, but it will be possible to ask questions etc. in Danish – and the moderator can translate them if needed.

We look forward to seeing you!
