Build Back Better - Rebuilding Ukraine

How architecture can contribute to reconstructing Ukraine? As the war continues to devastate Ukrainian society, the challenge of rebuilding the country grows. Architects and other actors within the built environment have a significant role to play in ensuring rebuilding that is both locally anchored, socially responsible, and sustainable. In this seminar, we hope to contribute to the ongoing dialogue on the ambition of rebuilding Ukraine.

The Ukrainian population faces immediate threats, and while the long-term consequences of the war are still impossible to foresee, it is apparent that the rebuilding of Ukraine is already ongoing and calls for strong local action and an international collaborative effort. Therefore, the Danish Association of Architects, the Royal Academy and DAC have joined forces to host a Build Back Better seminar exploring how architects can contribute to rebuilding Ukraine in a sustainable, scalable and socially responsible way while strengthening local identity.

Join us for a discussion with leading voices from Ukraine and Denmark, including Andrii Yanevskyi, Ambassador of Ukraine to the Kingdom of Denmark; Ukrainian representatives from the project Libraries for All: Inclusive Spaces for Socialization and Support for Veterans. You will also meet: Bent Madsen, CEO of BL; Anton Ryslinge from Architects Without Borders; representatives from SOS Children’s Villages Denmark and Henriette Vamberg, Architect MAA and Partner at Gehl Architects.
