What if better building materials were less like heavy industry and more like baking? The construction industry is under pressure to change. Lower emissions, healthier indoor air and circular material flows are no longer nice-to-haves; they are expectations. Yet many materials still used today were never designed with these goals in mind. Acoustic solutions often rely on inorganic materials or niche design products, making it difficult to balance performance, cost and sustainability. So Aisti started with a simple question: is there a better recipe? Aisti set out to create one, from the ground up.
When no viable alternative to traditional acoustic ceiling tiles existed, Aisti set out to create one.
Making Aisti tiles is almost like baking a cake. Like any good recipe, it begins with a few carefully chosen ingredients: natural wood fibre, water and air. Using foam-forming technology, the fibres are mixed and aerated into a light, structured mass, where they bond naturally, without synthetic additives or plastics. The material is formed, dried and refined into suspended ceiling tiles that are not only high-performing, but also fire-safe, recyclable and clean for indoor air.
The outcome? A new kind of acoustic tile delivering class A sound absorption at a competitive price, without compromising material responsibility. The tiles are designed to fit standard ceiling systems, making them easy to specify and install. No new processes, just a smart material that integrates into existing construction practices.
This is more than fine-tuning an old formula. This is a completely new way of thinking about acoustic materials: simpler ingredients, great results – and a step towards changing construction for good.
At Material Matters, Aisti presents this new generation of acoustic tiles and introduces them to Denmark, where they are available exclusively through Beyond_Rational. You are invited to experience the material and the thinking behind it up close.
